ABOUT LA CUNETA SON MACHÍN:
La Cuneta Son Machín is a group of Nicaraguan musicians who since 2009 have merged the popular music of Nicaragua and Latin America with new musical trends such as rock, ska, hip hop and funk.

Three of its six members are part of the Mejía Godoy family, a family of artists well known internationally, among which include the stand out figures such as the singer-songwriters Carlos and Luis Enrique Mejía Godoy, as well as Luis Enrique «The Prince of the Salsa».

The main objective of La Cuneta has been to foster in Nicaraguan youth a much more enriching vision of art and popular expressions, which for many decades have been undervalued because of their indigenous origin.

La Cuneta has traveled throughout Nicaragua, participating in the most important festivals in the country. The band has also hosted many international artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin, Juan Luis Guerra, Luis Enrique, Molotov, Celso Pina, El Gran Silencio, among others. They have also toured the United States, Germany, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Denmark, Costa Rica, El Salvador, among others.

Their first two albums, «El Zafarrancho» and «Amor Fritanguero» have been a huge success in Nicaragua.

The third album «Mondongo», produced by the North American musician and producer Greg Landau, mixed by the award-winning audio engineer Carlos Álvarez and mixed by the renowned John Greenham, was nominated for the 2016 Grammy Awards in the «Best Album Latino Rock, Urban or Alternative » category, competing with artists like Pitbull, Bomba Estéreo, Natalia Lafourcade and Monsieur Periné in the category.

The new album by La Cuneta, «Cañambuco», recorded at Jingle Town studios in Oakland, also produced by Greg Landau and mixed by Carlos Álvarez, represents a continuation of the profound experimental work with popular Nicaraguan music started with the previous album “Mondongo”. It was released digitally in May 2017.

ABOUT SALT PETAL:
“Deliriously Good” Buzzbands.la
“A feast for the eyes and ears… A display of adept musical arrangements” LA Music Blog

Los Angeles-based collective Salt Petal is invigorating audiences and critics alike with a tropical surf-dance sound in a category all its own. A cross-border combination of Argentinian folk, Brazilian tropicalia, Cumbia and up tempo Indie Rock blurs ethnic and musical boundaries, bringing to mind Blondie, Os Mutantes, Gal Costa, Los Autenticos Decadentes, and 60′s rock and roll. The band’s sound is one of the freshest to come out of Los Angeles, showcasing deep South American rhythms with vibrant Indie Pop harmonies and textures.

The band was founded by Autumn Harrison and Rodrigo Gonzalez, upon realizing that the sound they were trying to find in concerts didn’t exist yet in Los Angeles. They started playing in small cafes and the response prompted them to invite talented musician friends to tour and begin playing large stages with them. The group now has a rotating number of between 5 and 10 performers.

Salt Petal has played high profile venues and festivals such as SXSW, Los Angeles Times’ Festival of Books, Echo Park Rising, Chinatown Summer Nights and Make Music Pasadena, performing alongside well-known artists including Lila Downs, Grimes, Hello Seahorse!, Robert DeLong, We Are Scientists, La Santa Cecilia, Dengue Fever, Les Nubians, Pilar Diaz, Las Cafeteras, Chicano Batman, members of Blondie and Jane’s Addiction and more. Their videos have been featured on MTV Tr3s and have been written up in Billboard.com. They recently won a battle of the bands competition voted on by panelists from the BBC, Songlines Magazine and the World Music Network. They were featured on a related broadcast and will be part of an upcoming Rough Guide compilation.

In March 2013, Salt Petal released their sophomore album titled “Sea Monster.” The album is produced by indie mastermind Raymond Richards (Local Natives, Henry Clay People) and mastered by Mark Chalecki (Los Abandoned, Le Butcherettes).
