The Resource Center for Nonviolence, Project Regeneration and the NAACP Santa Cruz Branch are excited to invite you to our 6th annual Dr. Martin Luther King jr. Youth Day!!!
Come celebrate Dr. King, his vision of equity and young Santa Cruz leaders while you have fun, meet new friends and get creative at one of the many interactive community booths.
MLK Youth Day combines a fun-filled day focused on food, activities, music, art, expression, and education with an emphasis on empowering youth. With local nonprofit organizations, youth-led projects and performances the day is dedicated to inspiring young minds and empowering young hearts. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with an intergenerational cross section of local leaders while learn about local organizations and opportunities where youth can get involved in the community!
Throughout the day there will be a heavy focus on Dr. Martin Luther King jr., his work, his philosophies and lessons on how we can move forward into a more just and peaceful world. Some of the content will include: The Six Steps of a Nonviolent Action Campaign, The Six Principles of Kingian Nonviolence and a reader's theater of one of his most powerful speeches.
