Sid Niemeyer was trained as a physicist (Calvin College, BA, and University of California, Berkeley, PhD) and worked for 27 years at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory; his research interests include cosmochemistry and nuclear forensics. In 2000 he began serving as Executive Pastor at Valley Community Church in Pleasanton, where he is still pastoring; his primary pastoral passion has been discipleship and spiritual formation.

From Sid: In my journey with God, I will focus on a decade that begins with my wife being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and shortly thereafter becoming a Division Leader at LLNL. My decision to accept a call to pastor was difficult for me, and I will explore how it was intertwined with my leadership in developing the new field of nuclear forensics and the death of my wife.
