I. Session 1: Aisha ®
--Wife. Scholar. Battle Commander. Aisha ® was the most beloved person to the Messenger of Allah (s), despite not staying strictly within roles traditionally relegated to women. This series will build upon the last Women's Forum's review on the life of Maryam (a), and highlight that there is no single route in the road to piety.
II: Session 2: What is Obedience? — Balancing Rights & Responsibilities
--We love our parents, and know the great reward of obedience to them, but what if that obedience starts to take over our lives? We are told that Islam came and liberated women, but also that women must be obedient to their husbands. This session will explore what obedience really means, and how satisfying Allah's commands does not run contrary to the empowerment of women.
III: Session 3: Tackling Modern Challenges for Muslim Women
— (This session is an interactive guided dialogue) Maintaining a healthy personal self has become increasingly challenging in the face of many unique circumstances of our present times. By exploring the unique challenges of our present circumstances and the evolving spiritual challenges that underly many of these societal changes, we seek to explore how we as individuals and as a community can tackle these challenges on the path to building a healthier spiritual self, personal self, and healthier communities.
