“Lizzie Borden took an axe.. .” You know the children’s rhyme, but do you really know the story of Lizzie Borden? The Massachusetts spinster was put on trial for dispatching her parents with a hatchet in the summer of 1892, but was later acquitted of the crime. This Goth-rock musical with a riot-girl attitude tells the tale of Lizzie as you’ve never heard it before: a story of revenge, sexual repression, anger, despair and ultimate release.
Featuring: Chloë Angst, Sharon Lita, Hayley Lovgren and Amy Soriano-Palagi. Sheila Townsend is understudying all four roles.
Performances are July 13-Aug. 20: Thursday-Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2, with three 8 p.m. Wednesdays, on Aug. 2, 9 and 16. Details: cltc.org.
Our show on Saturday, Aug. 5, is part of the gala party «Axes & Ohhhhs!» Support City Lights with this awesome fundraiser, which also includes a catered dinner (and blood-orange ale brewed just for us) at the historic Fallon House, as well as a dance party at the theater after «LIZZIE.» Come for part or all of the evening.
