Cacao (chocolate!) beans have been recognized for centuries for the potent heartfelt power among the indigenous tribes of Central America. A superfood containing a complex mix of vitamins and aminos, Cacao helps to facilitate powerful transformation by accessing the heart center and deepening one's connection to spirit. Cacao is a facilitator that brings you to the doors of perception, allowing you to work with your shadows or to step into your own power and gifts. We are honored to have access to this special plant medicine from Guatemala.
The foundations of this workshop are the four directions of The Native American Medicine Wheel and the heart opening energy of cacao. We will begin class with a cup of 100% pure cacao from Guatemala, a sacred plant medicine in the Mayan tradition, to open the heart chakra and connect with spirit. We will then flow into an asana class connecting with the elements and the four directions and associated archetypes of the medicine wheel and use this ancient wisdom as our guide, releasing what no longer serves us in order to make room for what we want to manifest in our lives. We will acknowledge and honor the energy of cacao as we step on the path to self-realization and manifestation. This workshop incorporates sound healing and Icharos (Medicine Songs) to deepen the process. You will leave the ceremony feeling spiritually purified, connected and expansive!
Darin Jay Lehman E-RYT 500 has always been a soul-surfer. Not looking for the best answers, looking for the best questions to bring meaning, happiness and fullness into life. A surfer, artist, musician, writer, avid outdoors-man and occasionally a bohemian world traveler, Darin needed to find a grounding practice to complement the fluidity in his life, to help him find balance.
Darin’s teachings are an integrative approach, weaving the path between modern day understandings of the world and more traditional timeless teachings of many diverse and beautiful cultures, including but not limited to, the yogic, shamanic, and kabbalistic paths. Darin walks the line between form and formless; “we hold non-attachment to the form, but respect and reverence for the tradition, an internal knowledge of the formless permeating everything that is manifested physically.” Darin is an innovator, merging the physical practices of yoga and qigong, with the connection to higher Spirit, the elements, the directions, all of our own personal guides, guardians and teachers. Darin brings the expression of Bhakti (devotion) into his classes through the use of singing Kirtan songs, chanting, Icaros (earth medicine music) and playing a variety of instruments. Darin also incorporates ceremony into his classes including Mantra, Cacao Ceremony, Shamanic Drum Journey’s, Hapé and Plant Medicine Journeys.
Darin loves to use his breath-work knowledge and life experiences to engage and compel his classes to allow students to deepen their own practices at their own pace and push themselves physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Lacey Hickox E-RYT 500 is inspired to share the healing power of yoga with the global community and is continuously seeking to learn, explore, and live the path of yoga as teacher and humble student. Lacey views this sacred practice as a path to self-discovery and self love and as a divine tool to deepen our connection with Spirit. She infuses her offerings with many modalities including Thai Massage, Reiki, Sound Healing, Earth Medicine and Shamanic Ceremony. Her intention is to leave students feeling empowered, centered, focused and inspired to continue the yoga practice off the mat with an emphasis on the principles of mindfulness, awareness, patience and a deep reverence for Pachamama. Lacey aspires to hold space for students to dive deeper into their practice both physically and spiritually and to connect with the beauty that is within and all around.
Lacey has been fortunate enough to study with many beautiful souls and finds deep inspiration from the teachings of Janet Stone, Shiva Rea, Shri Brahmananda and her teachers in the Andes Mountains of Peru. Lacey has lived, studied and practiced in several different ashrams and spiritual communities worldwide, immersing herself in the depths of this practice. She has a playful yet grounded approach to this journey and is a devoted student of life.
Lacey loves the growth and awareness that comes with travel. She finds inspiration from seeking new practices and learning about different traditions around the world while connecting to the global consciousness. You can often find her teaching at retreats as well as sharing workshops and participating in yogic conferences and festivals internationally.
