Come celebrate Women's Equality Day in San Leandro with us!
Community Impact LAB in partnership with San Leandro History Museum is presenting a day of celebration to recognize the passage of the 19th Amendment.
The festivities will be held on the Casa Grounds and in the History Museum from 10:00am- 1:00pm. The History Complex is located in downtown San Leandro at 320 West Estudillo.
The event is FREE and OPEN to the public, no registration required.
The Museum will be presenting a poster exhibit recognizing 38 women who inspire us with their strength and their ability to make a difference. Additionally the Museum is celebrating by adding a special exhibit on Woman’s Suffrage and Passage of the 19th
There will be short films by Martha Wheelock highlighting prominent women in the Suffrage Movement will be shown on a continuous loop featuring: Forward Into Light; One Fine Day and California Women Win the Vote. Can learn more about the films at wildwestwomen.org/our-films/
There will be a guest speaker, Elaine Elinson, author of “Wherever There’s a Fight”, will share the story of the Women’s Movement in California and the passing of the 19 th Amendment and will be available after her talk to discuss her book. Books will be available for purchase.
Elaine Elinson talk begins at 10:30am.
Activities for children include:
— 11am Story-time with stories about courageous women read by Penny Peck.
— 11am-1pm: Voting in a mock voting booth, making suffrage sashes and a variety other art project stations.
