Friends & family!
As some of you know, I spent a few weeks in February of 2016 in the highlands of Tanzania as a volunteer photographer with Photographers Without Borders, documenting the work of Foxes' Ngo — a nonprofit organization that provides shelter, sustenance, education and medical care for children in the remote yet breathtaking Mufindi district. Prior to arriving in Tanzania, my understanding was that this organization is an «orphange» and I wasn't quite sure how prepare for what I was going to witness. I quickly discovered that the NGO is SO much more than that and in fact we prefer not to use the term «orphange» given it's sad connotation. Indeed, it was heartbreaking to learn about the stories of these beautiful children who have devastating life circumtstances yet are still so vibrant and resilient. The NGO not only provides a home for these children but also access to a montessori school, a nursery, english classes, a vocational sewing school and even a health branch providing dentistry, pediatrics and home based care. My intention was to capture the wonderful work that the NGO does for the community but most importantly to capture the joyful spirits of the children & people of Mufindi because despite their hardships; they manage to find the will to shine so bright and I am SO excited for the opportunity to share a glimpse of their light with you.
Opening night will be on Friday 4/21 at 6:30pm and photos will be up for viewing/purchase through Saturday 4/22. I will also have yoga bags made from colorful Kanga fabrics & baskets all made by village artisans. Proceeds from this show will be donated to Foxes' Ngo
There will also be light bites & refreshments!
